Musgrave Group, Ireland’s largest food and grocery distributor, has chosen to re-commit to BCP’s Accord® solution for its Musgrave Wholesale Partners Division.

Musgrave Wholesale Partners is Ireland’s premier food wholesale company, operating a delivered retail business, a delivered foodservice business and cash and carry operations throughout Ireland.

Musgrave’s growth has continued unabated in recent years, both organically and through acquisitions, the most significant of which for Musgrave Wholesale Partners over the last year being the acquisition of NI rival J&J Haslett. This has more than doubled the company’s size in the province, making it a powerful player in the NI convenience market and extending its C&C operation significantly.

Supply chain specialist BCP (Business Computer Projects Ltd) was first selected as system supplier for the wholesale division in the 1990’s and since then has worked closely with Musgrave, developing Accord® in line with changing market and business needs, as the company has grown and restructured.

The decision to recommit to BCP and Accord® reflects the close working partnership which has developed between the two companies and recognises the breadth of the Accord® solution, its close match to Musgrave Wholesale Partners’ future requirements and BCP’s clear understanding of the Musgrave business.

A number of areas for strategic development of the solution have been agreed and BCP will now work with Musgrave to realise these. Particular projects include completion of the integration of Variety Foods into the Musgrave business, more timely financial information at period end and a CRM project that will deliver customer visibility across all depots, helping Musgrave to better service the needs of its customers.

Brendan Sheridan, Head of IT at Musgrave Wholesale Partners, sums up: “We have had a long and fruitful relationship with BCP. Their staff understand our business well. The BCP Accord® system meets our requirements and we are happy to commit to BCP and Accord® for the next 3-5 years.”
