Leading wireless mobile computing technology company Psion Teklogix UK has entered a co-marketing agreement with NetMotion Wireless International to leverage the high degree of compatibility between the products offered by the two companies.

NetMotion Wireless’ software enables businesses and agencies to secure, maintain and optimise connections to applications as their mobile workers move in and out of wireless coverage areas and across various networks. NetMotion Wireless’ award-winning Mobile VPN (Virtual Private Network), Mobility XE™, enhances mobile worker productivity at more than 1,200 of the world’s most respected organisations across multiple industries including utilities, healthcare, communications, public safety, local government, transportation and many others.

NetMotion Wireless’ products have proven to add value to the market leading mobile computer technology offered by Psion Teklogix. By integrating the NetMotion Mobility XE client into a Psion Teklogix device, such as the Workabout Pro or the Ikôn, that device will be able to provide secure, encrypted and authenticated access to home networks. Furthermore, it will be able to roam seamlessly between wireless networks without interrupting the workflow of the user.

Unlike other VPNs with Mobility XE the user enjoys significant productivity gains through not having to repeatedly log in throughout the day if they become disconnected because the Mobility XE VPN maintains a logical connection to the network.

Because NetMotion Wireless also provides link optimisation, which greatly increases the effective throughput of any wireless network, users of Psion Teklogix devices will also find improved application performance, especially in poor coverage areas.

Commenting on the agreement with Psion Teklogix, Peter George, Vice President, International Operations at NetMotion Wireless, said: “Psion Teklogix has a long history of creating innovative, good quality products. Customers are always looking to reduce the risk in any project and having two independent manufacturers assuring the integration of their products means users can buy this technology with confidence, knowing that it will work seamlessly, without integration issues. That’s a risk eliminated from a project, which is exactly what technology buyers and project managers are seeking.”

Paul Westmoreland, managing director of Psion Teklogix UK commented: “NetMotion Wireless offers an ideal solution for users of mobile computing technology. Under the co-marketing agreement the two companies will be encouraging our mutual and independent channels to sell each other’s products. The NetMotion Wireless products, which have already proven to add value to Psion Teklogix devices, will help to further lower the barriers of technology for mobile technology users across an enterprise.”
