The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), the leading worldwide professional organization dedicated to the advancement of communications technologies, will explore the latest advances in wireless technologies at its annual IEEE Wireless Communications & Networking Conference (WCNC) to be held from 18 – 21 April 2010 in Sydney, Australia.

Throughout the course of the four-day event, approximately 1,000 industry professionals, academics and government officials are expected to attend the presentation of more than 500 workshops, tutorials, panel discussions and technical sessions exploring the latest advances in the wireless field.

Featured IEEE WCNC keynote speakers include Dr. Adam T. Drobot, the chief technology officer and president of Advanced Technology Solutions at Telcordia Technologies, who will address the forum on “The Future of Wireless Communications;” Dr. Hugh S. Bradlow, chief technology officer of Telstra Corporation Limited, who will discuss “The Future of the Mobile Internet;” and Professor Khaled Ben Letaief of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, who will speak on “A New World of Cognitive and Agile Networks.”

On Sunday, April 18th, the conference will officially commence with a full day of workshops and tutorials highlighting key wireless subject areas such as the planning and optimization of wireless communications networks, tomorrow’s Internet, biologically-inspired communications and networking, cognitive radio and enabling technologies, the localization and tracking of smart devices and an overview of 4G LTE and WiMAX technologies.

From Monday, April 19 through Wednesday, April 21, IEEE WCNC will then proceed with more than 100 technical sessions offering more than 500 presentations dedicated to topics ranging from vehicular communications, wireless sensor networks, beamforming and energy efficiency to mobile and wireless IP, wireless video stream transmissions, next generation multimedia wireless networks and cooperative communications. Specific discussion areas will include “DCF System Dynamics,” “Global Grassroots WiFi Sharing,” “Collaborative Spectrum Sensing,” “Blind Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio,” “Risk Management in Intrusion Detection Applications,” “Cross Layer for Wireless Video Stream Transmission” and “Energy Consumption in Wireless Sensor Networks.”
