In response to industry’s constant demand for advances in RFID technology, especially with the recent rise in the use of PC’s in the factory environment, Escort Memory Systems (EMS) have launched their latest range in versatile and cost effective RFID solutions – The Cobalt Range.
As Europe’s leading EMS Distributor, DataScan have developed RFID systems for a wide range of |
industries, from automotive and heavy industries to food and drink, pharmaceutical and logistics. DataScan understands that the key to a successful RFID application is ease of
integration and reliability. The EMS Cobalt range offers both.
With a rugged IP66 construction the EMS Cobalt range has been specifically designed for the factory floor and Work In Progress (WIP) applications. EMS’ encapsulated tags survive continued exposure water, chemicals and heat resulting in fewer breakdowns. With its microprocessor architecture the Cobalt range is a true ‘Plug and Play’ system, allowing easy hardware replacement reducing downtime during maintenance.
In addition to rugged construction the Cobalt range has been designed for ease of integration. An integrated controller/antenna design eliminates cabling restriction and its unique ‘plug and play’ feature allows effortless installation of additional Cobalt controllers on a network. EMS Cobalt’s industrial connectivity ensures the smooth integration with Ethernet, Modbus TCP, Device Net or serial interfaces, including USB.
The Cobalt series supports multi-protocol read and write operations for all ISO 15693 and ISO 14443A passive RFID tags. These include the Escort Memory Systems LRP and HMS series of durable tags as well as tags based on Phillips, Infineon and Texas Instruments technology, giving maximum flexibility and choice.
Many RFID systems stream increasing amount of data over high-speed industrial networks often overloading the host system. The EMS Cobalt system is different. Using a simple programming tool (C-Macro) integrators and end users can apply simple rules for handling the RFID data at a local level, relieving the pressure on the overloaded factory networks.
Another obstacle often encountered in the factory floor environment is the proximity of metal, and the resulting interference caused. The advanced radio frequency electronic design of the Cobalt range enables longer read/write distances and a reduced sensitivity to the proximity of metal in the field resulting in higher performance and reliability. Making the Cobalt range the ideal choice for industrial industries.
