Datalogic confirms leadership position with record sales and new vision

After record breaking sales in the third quarter of 2011, Datalogic S.p.A. (Borsa Italiana S.p.A.: DAL) has consolidated its leading position in its two main identified markets of Automatic Data Capture (ADC) and Industrial Automation (IA), where it dominates in many sectors including retail, express shipping and automotive.

A market leader in bar code readers, data collection mobile computers, RFID and vision systems, Datalogic Group announced the best ever quarter for the Group with sales figures showing 107.1 million Euro for the third quarter of 2011, 6.6% up on the same period in 2010. Furthermore, sales revenue for the first nine months of 2011 amounted to 317.3 million Euro, a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2010. Furthermore, net profit rose to 17.2 million Euro vs. 14.5 million Euro in the first nine months of 2010.

Describing this performance in a period statistically affected by so-called seasonality, as exceptional, Datalogic Group CEO, Mauro Sacchetto said: “This best ever sales revenue achievement is the result of focused activities in our two key markets of ADC and IA. Incisive marketing and distribution action and major penetration ability has enabled Datalogic to maintain significant rates of growth and confirm its global leadership in the segments in which it operates.”

As a total business solutions provider in both ADC and IA markets, Datalogic further attributes this success to its deep industry knowledge and the ability to recognize the key factors driving demand.

ADC market drivers include a significant shift to field mobility deployments, coupled with a need to increase efficiency, such as at point of sale. In related verticals, the company sees a growing number of applications in government, healthcare and retail – particularly in emerging countries where there is a specific adoption ground for retail automation. In addition, with applications constantly on the increase worldwide in many sectors, enterprises need more data than ever to effectively manage their supply chains. Similarly, in the Industrial Automation market, Datalogic is meeting increasing demand for solutions in traceability of processes and goods, with supply chain streamlining gaining importance.

“Our Group vision is to embrace these business drivers and meet customer-focused needs with total solutions that ensure end-users and mobile workers not only perceive value, but also receive the tools to operate more efficiently and more quickly, saving time and reducing overheads,” added Mauro Sacchetto.

Datalogic has more than 1,000 partners worldwide and longstanding relationships with some of the world’s biggest retailers, couriers and automotive manufacturers, as well as logistics and transportation operators. This has translated into a well-established platform from which to advance the company’s customer solutions. Examples include mobile solutions for Automatic Data Capture in more than 360 self-shopping installations across Europe, while solutions for Industrial Automation boast more than 1,000 Datalogic reading stations in over 100 airports worldwide.
