The Trimble Ranger 3, equipped to handle any outdoor environment

The Trimble Ranger 3 brings the latest positioning technology to the rugged hardware market. Much like its predecessor the Ranger 3 has been designed to withstand a multitude of conditions while providing users with reliability and low ownership costs.

Built to survive the stress of working outdoors the Ranger 3 handheld computer is capable of collecting, saving and transmitting data collection from the field via 3G and GSM. This is ideal in any forestry or field based industry, where mobility is essential. By meeting MIL-STD-810G military standards and sealed to an IP67 rating, the Ranger’s durability in harsh outdoor applications is ever present. The GPS receiver, compass and accelerometer paired alongside the 5 megapixel autofocus camera can be used to capture geo-tagged images. The full visible VGA is able to project crystal clear imagery for mapping applications. While the generous 4.2 inch touch screen merely highlights its adaptability during aggressive outdoor use.

Ultimately the Ranger 3 computer has the ability to succeed across a variation of markets; the benefit of potential immersion in up to a metre of water for 30 metres means it is possible to use the Ranger in a wet environment such as fixing it onto a boat for a variation of marine solutions.

On the other hand the 1D barcode scanner can allow users to track parts or integrate the device into the warehouse and distribution industry, due to its durability it can be used for data capture combined alongside the long life battery which can allow a 30 hour usage before being charged.

In the utility market, where users are constantly on the move, they can use the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and other additional connections, enabling connectivity to the internet and corporate networks when users are constantly out and about in the field. Characteristics such as the white LED light have dual adaptability to work as both a camera flash and a flashlight for someone having trouble reading metres in low light visibility can help clarify information during detailed inspections, maintenance and repairs.
