Major dairy firm to yield Dynamics AX ERP technology benefits
9th June 2009

K3 AX has made what is believed to be a major breakthrough with Dynamics AX into the UK dairy industry.

Meadow Foods is the UK’s leading independent dairy group and is looking to use a Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system to fully integrate its processes and gain visibility of critical business information from a centralised IT resource. A key feature of the solution is K3 AX’s specially developed Fresh Dynamics module that provides Quality Control and Trading functionality, crucial for fresh food producers.

Major reasons behind K3 AX winning the contract include its ability to provide Meadow Foods with a technologically advanced system, a proven track record of installing cutting edge solutions to the fresh food industry together with its specialist support. The company needed a system that was future-proof and could replace a legacy system that lacked integration with production.

Damian McDonald, Meadow Foods’ Finance Director, said: “Dynamics AX from K3 AX provides Meadow Foods with an obsolescence proof solution that is fully integrated and fits our business needs. Because Microsoft has put a huge budget behind the product we are confident that it will be around for 10 to 20 years and, therefore, we believe that the system will grow with company.”

He added: “We anticipate that it will provide us with full visibility of information across all areas of our business and streamline our processes. We also believe that this is one of the first implementations of Dynamics AX in the dairy industry.”

Meadow Foods is a £250m turnover business supplying milk and balancing services to the premium liquid milk industry. It also has an ingredients division supplying cream, butter and sweetened dairy products to blue chip food manufacturers. The company operates from two well-invested manufacturing sites in Chester and Yorkshire. In total the business employs 255 people and handles more than 400m litres of milk each year from a network of 400 farmers nationwide.
