K3 helps manufacturers go green

A leading UK ERP specialist is helping manufacturers become more eco-friendly while saving money.

Manchester-based K3 Business Technology Group has made available a Material Yield module for use with SYSPRO manufacturing, financial and distribution system that is already helping companies in the USA save thousands of pounds while slashing vast quantities of landfill material they create.

Material Yield automatically calculates yields from raw material using the actual dimensional requirements for specific products. The precision approach means that material such as sheets, rods, or tubes are fully utilised and consequently less waste is produced.

Usable remnants are then returned to inventory for later use instead of being consigned to waste. The system automatically creates new part numbers and pricing for the returned remnants, enabling custom orders to be fulfilled from existing inventory.

Howard Joseph, Managing Director of K3 Business Technology Group said: "Calculating and deciding on how to make efficient use of raw and remnant material stocks has always been a time consuming process up to now. With the SYSPRO Material Yield module we are able to provide a tool that automates the process thereby adding value to existing raw materials and remnants and also eradicating the need to send waste to landfill.

“Successful implementations of the Material Yield module are already paying huge dividends in North America. One company has already reported that since implementing SYSPRO ERP and Material Yield it has more than doubled its revenues while maintaining its head count because of the efficiencies it has gained."
