Mobexx launches electronic inspection system for hazardous environments
Runcorn, UK

Rugged computing specialist Mobexx has developed a rugged PDA-based paperless data logging solution for engineers and inspectors working in the oil, gas and chemical industries. Designed specifically for hazardous environments, the turnkey system makes it easy for inspection teams, installation engineers and equipment testing technicians working in high risk Zone 0 areas to implement highly accurate electronic recording and communication of critical information.

The fully configurable explosion-proof system boosts inspection efficiency and accuracy, and is more environmentally friendly than traditional methods as it eliminates mountains of paper records. The system can be configured to the user’s precise requirements and offers the flexibility for further developments. In addition, data collected on site can simply be uploaded from the hand held computer to the back office system, eradicating the need for re-keying information and therefore avoiding errors.

Supplied as an out-of-the-box solution, the software runs on the Intermec CK32IS mobile computer that has been designed to meet the highest UL, ATEX and IECEx ratings. This groundbreaking intrinsically safe mobile computing system is suitable for extreme conditions in the most hazardous environments in any situation throughout the world.

The advantage of the Intermec hand held is that it can be used with the full Intermec family of rugged automatic data collection devices as well as additional mobile computers for hazardous environments. This allows customers to simply pick the appropriate form factor and certifications ratings for their specific application needs.

“We have engineered the Mobexx IS Data Logger system to provide customers with an easy to use paperless solution that will enable them to gain the full benefit of the latest IT for monitoring production plant and processes in hazardous areas. The system reduces paperwork and provides much greater accuracy, ensuring an efficient audit trail for inspectors and engineers. The Intermec CK32IS hand held provides a best-in-class platform for running the automated system in hazardous environments,” said Mark Dale-Lace, Mobexx Director.

A Zone 2 rated system utilising Getac Tablet or Laptop PCs is also available for less hazardous environments.
