INTERMEC CN3 TRACKS CHARITY BIKE RIDE FROM LONDON TO PARIS
21 November 2007
A Codegate employee has recently completed a 185 mile charity bike ride using an Intermec CN3 with integrated GPS to enable followers to track his progress online. Technical Director Rafe Aldridge joined 30 other riders in the bike ride which started at the Twickenham Stadium in London and ended at the Stade de France in Paris to raise money for the children’s charity o2e.
The CN3, a state-of-the-art, rugged and compact mobile computer, which accompanied Rafe on his expedition, was running a bespoke application, created using Codegate’s Catalyst framework

software, which logged Aldridge’s live positioning using GPS and sent it back to a central server via GPRS. The procedure was completely automated, requiring no input from Rafe during the journey.
Commenting on the journey, Aldridge stated “The CN3 worked perfectly providing reliable positioning data which was plotted on a map so that followers could track my latest location via a web page. The online map proved to be very popular and received over 2,300 hits from people eager to monitor my progress.”
Aldridge raised over £2,000 for o2e, a charity which specialises in helping disabled and terminally ill children.
