Wasp Barcode Technologies partners with Northamber to target e-Pos opportunities
1st July 2009

Wasp Barcode Technologies has signed a distribution agreement with Northamber which is to market the full range of Wasp’s barcode solutions, including packaged software, hardware and accessories, from 1st July 2009.

Wasp Barcode Technologies is one of the largest barcode vendors in the UK, having grown rapidly by focusing on the gap in the market for easy-to-use barcode solutions for smaller businesses and the growing interest in auto-ID. Reseller margins on Wasp products can be as much as 15 – 20%.

“We see good opportunities in the market for our e-Pos solutions,” says Ian Joslin, who has recently joined Northamber. “and we particularly needed an out-of-the box Auto-ID product that would suit small-to-medium businesses. Wasp Barcode Technologies has the edge in this part of the market and fits well with our other lines because Wasp products can be sold with IBM or Microsoft Office solutions.”

Says Hugh Furness, UK Sales Director of Wasp: “We are very cautious about signing new distributors, because we could just be moving product from one distributor to another. Northamber is the UK’s most established distributor for IT products and is a key account for us. We have been in talks together during the last year and the relationship has now come together. We feel very positive about this agreement, it will bring Wasp products to a whole new segment of customers.”

Wasp and Northamber are to offer a series of introductory deals on the Wasp product range.

Wasp’s products are used in libraries, NHS, manufacturing, schools, transport and distribution.

Wasp’s barcode products include barcode scanners, barcode printers, packaged software for Asset Tracking, Stock Control and e-POS along with consumables, barcode accessories, labels and EPOS equipment.
