Vasanta Selects Manhattan Associates to Support Supply Chain Strategy
LONDON and ATLANTA – March 3, 2010

Global supply chain optimisation provider, Manhattan Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: MANH), today announced that Vasanta Group, the largest office supplies group in the UK and Ireland, has selected Manhattan Associates to support its distribution network. Vasanta fulfils orders for its three subsidiary brands: VOW, ISA Retail and Supplies Team. It will deploy Manhattan Associates’ logistics execution system, Manhattan SCALE™: Supply Chain Architected for Logistics Execution, at a new regional distribution centre (DC) in Normanton, West Yorkshire.

The new, 200,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility replaces Vasanta’s existing DC for the northern region, also in Normanton, and forms a cornerstone of the company’s strategy to build a world-class supply chain infrastructure.

The existing distribution network is supported by a warehouse management system that is highly customised and therefore difficult and expensive to maintain. Vasanta decided it needed an advanced, flexible and modularised supply chain technology platform that could also be seamlessly integrated with its future ERP platform - Microsoft Dynamics AX – as well as with radio frequency technology and a new automated picking and packing system.

“Our legacy system no longer offered a good fit with the direction our business and IT strategy was taking and so it made sense to undertake a complete overhaul following our decision to create the new DC. It was an obvious choice to seek out a best in class product, with a trail of strong customer testimonials behind it. Following a three-way tender process, we selected Manhattan because its solution provided the best fit for our business needs and the team understood our requirements,” said Kevin Carrick, Group IT Director, Vasanta Group. “We expect our investment to improve stock accuracy, reporting, returns processes and to increase overall service levels. Furthermore, we now have a highly configurable and upgrade-able solution which can grow with the company.”

“Manhattan is delighted to be playing a key part in helping Vasanta to increase operational efficiency and improve customer service. We have extensive experience in integrating our software with other business management tools including Microsoft Dynamics AX, so this is an ideal project for us,” said Steve Smith, Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Manhattan Associates. “Vasanta is looking ahead to continued growth, and with our modularised as well as constantly evolving software, the IT team will be able to switch on features and functionality as required and benefit from solution enhancements as the product develops over time.”
