Manhattan WMS automates operations to drive efficiency improvements and service enhancements
Global supply chainoptimisation provider Manhattan Associates
, Inc. (NASDAQ: MANH) today announced that China Shijiazhuang Pharmaceutical Group (CSPC), a large pharmaceutical enterprise specialising in science, technology and trading, is implementingManhattan Associates’ Warehouse Management solution (WMS) at its new distribution centre (DC) in Shijiazhuang, China.
The deployment will enable CSPC to standardise and integrate the warehousing and distribution operations of CSPC Zhongcheng Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. to drive greater efficiency and reduce operating costs. CSPC alsosees the investment as critical to support its future business plan to offerthird party logistics services to other pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers operating in China.
The first phase of the operational ramp-up at the new DC will accommodate up to 350,000 cartons of medicine products. To support a distribution centre of this size, CSPC needed to automate its warehouse and distribution operations with an advanced and flexible IT platform that could be seamlessly integrated with its ERP solution and warehouse control system.
“For us to grow our service capabilities and eventually be able to offer a comprehensive third party logistics service, we needed to focus on improving our operations to enhance efficiency and put us in a position where we could offer an unrivalled service in the industry,” said Mr. Zhang Yinghui, CIO of CSPC Zhongcheng Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. “The existing warehouse management solution we were using did not meet our short-term or longer-term needs. We therefore sought a new solution that would modernise, standardise and fully automate our operations to support the company’s future business strategy. We selected Manhattan Associates because its solutions have a proven track record in serving pharmaceutical companies of our size. We’re confident that Manhattan’s solutions will help us streamline and advance our operations.”
“We have a wealth of experience in helping some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Asia, so this was an ideal project for our team,” said Jeff Baum, senior vice president, International, at Manhattan Associates. “Manhattan Associates’ Warehouse Management solution drives cost savings and increases revenues for its pharmaceutical sector clients by automating and optimisingprocesses for a more effective distribution network.
