Under Armour Implements Manhattan Supply Chain Platform in Europe

Global supply chain optimisation provider Manhattan Associates (NASDAQ: MANH) today announced that Under Armour, the leading performance apparel brand, has completed the latest phase of its global supply chain enhancement programme following the successful implementation of Manhattan Associates’ Warehouse Management solution (WMS) at its 3PL-run fulfilment centre in Venlo, the Netherlands.

Under Armour’s entire EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) operations are supported by the distribution centre (DC) in Venlo, run by global third party logistics provider DSV. The DC is used for distributing Under Armour’s performance sport apparel and footwear accessories across 36 countries within the EMEA region.

When moving its fulfilment operation to the new DC last year, Under Armour opted to implement Manhattan’s WMS to support its EMEA business operations. Having already successfully used Manhattan’s technology for several years in the US - in DCs in Maryland and California - Under Armour decided to deploy the latest version of Manhattan’s WMS in Venlo.

In addition to the WMS deployment, Under Armour has also completed a successful implementation of Manhattan’s web-based Extended Enterprise Management (EEM) solution to facilitate accurate, real-time data sharing with its suppliers. The EEM software allows the status of in-bound products and deliveries to be viewed and updated online and this can be done without it being a cost burden to suppliers since all they need is an Internet connection.

The implementation of the solutions in the Netherlands was conducted by Under Armour’s central (Baltimore-based) IT team, with support from Manhattan Associates’ consulting team

“A big advantage in electing to use Manhattan’s WMS and EEM solutions is that they were already completely geared up to support our type of business,” commented Bas van Rijnberk, logistics manager, EMEA at Under Armour. “Under Armour is expanding rapidly and it is good to know that we have a systems platform that will be able to keep up with that pace of growth as well as keep us agile in the face of an ever changing external environment.”

“We are proud to be supporting the growth and ongoing success of a well-known global brand like Under Armour,” said Pieter Van den Broecke, managing director Central Europe at Manhattan Associates. “We look forward to accompanying Under Armour on the next phases of its supply chain optimisation programme.”
