The new working arrangement includes the appointment of DA Systems as the sole technology provider for both companies,

supplying a unified technology solution for control room, fleet and customer interface management.
To unify the IT infrastructure and software, both companies will adopt DA Systems’ class leading ACI (Advanced Courier Interface) and ACI Net control room and on-line customer interface software, already in use by Excel Couriers and replacing MPC Logistics current system.
Greg Hoy, Managing Director of Excel Couriers, explained “The appointment of DA Systems as a sole technology provider is the first in a number of steps we are taking that will make both companies more competitive through collaboration. By consolidating our back office functions, and running common control room and web interface software, we will reduce our overheads and at the same time enhance the on-line experience for our combined customer base. Over the years, I have been impressed by DA Systems’ solution and we are pleased that MPC has agreed to adopt the software too.”
ACI is a powerful scheduling and fleet management system, which acts as a conduit between the control room, the fleet and the customer, delivering real time visibility of collections and deliveries from end to end. The system will manage the combined courier service operation of both companies, which has an annual turnover in excess of £15 million, and will interface with over 250 mobile data devices in use across the fleet.
MPC customers will see the largest improvements, as ACI Net will give each and every customer its own unique on-line experience, with advanced functionality and a very modern look and feel; a service Excel customers have been enjoying for some time. With almost 40% of the combined customer base already booking services and tracking packages on-line, the ease of use and flexibility of ACI’s web interface was one of the key factors in DA Systems winning the contract. In addition to an enhanced on-line presence, the solution will also make it much faster and simpler to create comprehensive reports for their customers, proving performance against SLAs and speeding up the cash flow cycle by eliminating invoicing queries.
Commenting on the new contract, Dave Upton, Managing Director of DA Systems, said “We were delighted to have the chance to directly compare our solution with one of our competitors’ systems in a live situation, and we were confident that our technically advanced solution would perform well. We have quickly transitioned MPC onto ACI and ACI.Net and the enhanced on-line service and reporting functionality has been very well received by their customers.”
