Paragon rowers on schedule in gruelling Indian Ocean race
Dorking, UK, 11 June 2009

Paragon Software Systems is pleased to report that Team MSS is making good progress in the Indian Ocean Rowing Race. The vehicle routing, scheduling and transport solutions specialist, is sponsoring Guy Watts and Andrew Delaney in their world record attempt to row across the Indian Ocean in the aid of Orchid - the male cancer charity.

The team has been at sea for over a month in its rowing boat, Flying Ferkins, and has covered over a quarter of their 3,780 nautical mile journey from Western Australia to Mauritius. Enduring bad weather, heavy seas and close encounters with sharks, Watts and Delaney remain upbeat about their prospects of completing the adventure. These challenging conditions have caused several other teams to retire from the race.

The Indian Ocean Rowing Race is the 'world's toughest ocean rowing race' and is a massive physical and mental undertaking that is expected to take some 90 days to complete. If they succeed, Watts and Delaney will be the first and youngest pair ever to cross the Indian Ocean using a rowing boat. Paragon helped raise funds toward the £76,000 needed by Team MSS to compete and all extra proceeds will go to Orchid (www.orchid-cancer.org.uk) - the only UK charity solely dedicated to the fight against male cancers. The fundraising target for Orchid is £125,000.

"We are delighted that Team MSS is making such good progress against some very difficult odds. Everyone at Paragon is supporting Guy and Andrew in their endeavour to not only make this record breaking journey but also in their effort to raise money for Orchid, which will help the charity in its fight against male cancer," says William Salter, Managing Director of Paragon Software Systems.
