ProcServe Working with the Welsh Assembly to Boost Public Sector Buying Power
ProcServe, a leading provider of procurement and marketplace connectivity solutions, today announced that they have been appointed by the Welsh Assembly Government to deliver a key part of the eProcurement platform for the xchangewales programme. This programme will result in an all-Wales system that will enable every Welsh public sector organisation to find suppliers and order and pay for goods at the click of a button.
The xchangewalesprogramme, designed to establish a standard electronic purchasing and payment system available to the whole of the Welsh public sector, has already received widespread support from public sector bodies, with a number of organisations putting themselves forward as 'Early Adopters' for the initiative. It is anticipated that the system will go live in spring 2008.
xchangewales will benefit Wales by releasing significant savings for reinvestment and enabling organisations to collaborate and make more informed procurement decisions. Additionally this will lead to lower prices, increased use of corporate contracts and paperless ordering with reduced administration.
Andrew Davies, Minister for Finance & Public Service Delivery says "This programme shows Wales at its finest, using cutting edge technology to deliver the best value possible for the Welsh pound, creating public services we can be proud of. Crucially, this programme, available at no charge to suppliers, has the potential to deliver up to £200 million of savings over five years. This money can be reinvested back into better citizen focused services."
