DSV Bristol wins chemical industry SQAS certification
LONDON, March 2010

Transport and logistics company DSV has achieved SQAS, a safety and quality assessment for companies working with chemicals and dangerous goods, for its third site.

Bristol has joined the companys depots in Purfleet and Manchester in gaining the prestigious certification, which increasing numbers of customers are asking for.

The SQAS (Safety and Quality Assessment System) is based on factors including IT systems, policy documents and business procedures and includes two day assessment and site inspection by an external assessor.

DSV Bristols Head of Region South West, Huw Williams, says: "This certification helps us ensure we achieve best practice and document exactly what procedures we follow."

The office handles a variety of chemicals and hazardous goods, including flammable liquids for the automotive industry, chemicals for detergents and flame retardants. Most of the products are manufactured in the UK and exported to the rest of Europe.

DSV Road is part of the DSV Group - a global supplier of transport and logistics solutions. DSV Roads Support Services General Manager Victoria Beale says: "We hope that this assessment will lead to continued and new business in this area."

The SQAS scheme was devised by the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC). Each assessment certificate and report is stored in a central database which can be accessed by a companys potential and existing business partners.
