AGILITY SYSTEMS WINS NEW CONTRACT WITH GLOBAL MOTOR CORPORATION, SUZUKI
01 August 2007

A Darlington-based business, Agility Systems, has won a major contract to supply specialist software solutions to the UK distribution centre of global motor corporation, Suzuki.

The new advanced Agility RF barcode warehouse system, which will be implemented during the next three to four months, is being installed at Suzuki’s parts distribution centre in Milton Keynes to improve the efficiency of the firm’s UK operations.

Suzuki designs and manufactures a vast range of motor-powered vehicles, including automobiles, off-road bikes, and marine machines, retailing in dozens of countries across Asia, America, Europe and Africa.

The Agility RF barcode warehouse system purchased by Suzuki will specifically help the firm to better cope with its increasing demand in the UK marketplace and offers hand held and fork truck RF barcode terminals to better track goods and packages, as well as advanced receiving capabilities to increase efficiency of accepting goods into the warehouse.

Benefits will also come from Agility’s advanced inventory system, including directed putaway, picking and dispatching, which will improve inventory accuracy and make perpetual inventory part of the picking process, and the installation of packing benches with full screen applications to allow repacking after picking.

Agility Systems specialises in ERP systems integration and has extensive knowledge of warehouse efficiency, logistics and information management. Established in 1995, the firm implements these solutions to a wide range of clients all over the world.

It also supplies warehouse optimisation solutions, efficiency monitoring and full transaction controls. Agility also specialises in supply chain execution over multiple ERP systems including INFOR 21, JD Edwards and BPCS.

Simon Storey, General Manager of Agility Systems, said: “Suzuki came to us because they lacked the systems to direct users to specific locations within their parts warehouse and felt that they could achieve more efficiency in receiving, picking and replenishment activities. The new RF barcode warehouse system will help them to achieve this and will make their extensive warehouse space much easier to monitor and control. “

Wayne Dye, General Manager at Suzuki, said: “Our investment in Agility’s software is an indication of our desire to improve services for customers of all types. Once implemented, the system will give us much better control over our inventory, and we should see a marked improvement in accuracy. This will have huge benefits on our productivity, making it a thoroughly worthwhile investment.”

The Agility “Lean WMS” solution for J D Edwards ERP systems will be launched at the J D Edwards Partner Day organised by the Oracle UK User Group, on 18th September at the Marriott Hotel, Heathrow.
