“Many people take hard disk drive technology for granted without realising the extent in which it has integrated into our lives,” explained Martin Larsson, Vice President and General Manager, Toshiba Europe. “Most of us have substantial collections of music, video and photos either on portable media players or PCs – none of which would have the capabilities to do so without the trusty HDD!”

The game can be accessed through www.harddiskdriverevolution.com and will go live from 1 June 2008. To access the game all you need to do is leave your name and enter the password ‘Toshiba’.

Toshiba Europe Storage Device Division today launched an online game designed to educate consumers on the benefits of hard disk drive (HDD) technology. Entitled ‘Get The Disk’, players take on the role of an unlikely hero tasked with saving the world from Dr. Evil who is hell bent on releasing a virus onto the world’s computer systems. Using only a trusted Toshiba HDD, players must guide the hero through several tasks and challenges in order to save the world from destruction.

Over the past few years, high capacity small form factor HDDs have revolutionised the consumer electronics sector. Numerous devices including MP3 players, personal media players, compact digital camcorders, set top boxes and gaming consoles have all benefitted from HDD technology. Consumers are attracted to the technology’s ability to reflect their individual personality through the large number of photos, video clips and audio files they can store on a highly capacity hard disk drive.
