H.Essers chooses Transics TX-MAGELLAN COLD for temperature monitoring in refrigerated trucks

Order reconfirms Essers’ trust in Transics for many years

H.Essers, Belgium’s largest logistics services provider, will equip its refrigerated trucks with TX-MAGELLAN COLD, a module of the recently launched TX-MAGELLAN trailer management suite from market leader Transics. The transport group has been relying on a Transics’ fleet management system for many years now. The solution helps H.Essers offer its customers optimal efficiency and a high service level. With TX-MAGELLAN, the logistics services provider takes it even one step further: H.Essers is now able to closely monitor the temperature of every load online and remotely and provide its customers with this added-value information.

H.Essers, based in the Belgian province of Limburg, has landed many prestigious Belgian awards and titles (Company of the Year, Trends Gazellen Ambassadeur) over the past few years, in recognition of its rapid growth and thorough innovative strength. The transport and logistics company strongly believes in the power of advanced technology to enhance processes and services. Essers’ trucks are equipped with Transics on-board computers that ensure up-to-date information exchange between the drivers and the back office. More than Essers itself, the customers too benefit from this real-time insight: they can track the status of their goods through the Essers Truck-&-Trace portal. From now on, they will also get temperature reports for certain goods, generated by Transics’ TX-MAGELLAN COLD module.

Precise temperature monitoring

Essers selected TX-MAGELLAN COLD after extensive market research and testing of the solution. Today, the tracer has already been installed in 50 of the group’s dual temp trailers; 20 refrigerated trucks will be fitted with the COLD module in the future. The trailers are mainly used to transport pharmaceutical products, which is a tightly regulated procedure. Via independent temperature sensors, TX-MAGELLAN COLD verifies if the required temperature conditions remain fulfilled and if the cooling unit is working optimally. As soon as the predefined limits – too warm or too cold – are exceeded or the cooling system is disturbed, a warning signal is sent to the driver and the back office.

Added value

Ivo Marechal (CEO): “More than being able to pinpoint the position of these trailers and view the routes travelled, we can monitor the temperature in real time and take action whenever needed. We also receive a warning if the trailer doors are opened at an unusual location or timing. Our control tower monitors these data. In this way, we can update our customers on the status of their cargo accurately and quickly.” Essers’ investment in TX-MAGELLAN COLD fits the carriers’ ambition to offer more and more value-added services, amongst others for companies from the pharmaceutical and health care industries.

Optimal truck and trailer management

TX-MAGELLAN COLD is part of Transics’ brand new family of solutions to help carriers optimally manage their trailers. “Our mission is to help them retain an edge over the competition in this highly competitive, challenging transport market. Until recently we only focused on the trucks. Now we can offer an all-in-one solution that helps carriers manage both their trucks and trailers. We are very proud that a large group like H.Essers decided to add a module from our new suite to its existing Transics on-board computers,” concluded Transics’ CEO Walter Mastelinck.
