Psion Teklogix at SME 2007
07 October 2007
 |
Among the highlights on Psion Teklogix’s stand at the forthcoming Service Management Europe exhibition (SME 2007) will be a new lone- |
worker tracking system.
Developed in collaboration with TMS2, the system combines i-Track, TMS2’s market leading internet based fleet management and telematics solution, with Psion Teklogix’s WORKABOUT PRO next generation rugged, handheld computer.
The WORKABOUT PRO with GPRS and GPS built-in now combined with i-Track provides both real-time and historic views of a vehicle or an individual worker’s location and activities on a map. The system is provided as a managed service and can be integrated with existing IT systems. In addition to monitoring the current position (via GPS) and status of workers and/or vehicles, it can be expanded to monitor the status of jobs such as service call, deliveries etc.
In simple terms, the use of i-Track with the WORKABOUT PRO means that the need for a dedicated ‘black box’ or other such in-vehicle hardware is removed.
The technology has been specifically developed for the lone-worker market.
Vipul Palan, commercial director of TMS2, commented: “i-Track is incredibly simple to use and helps improve the efficiency of an operation by keeping on top of worker activities in real time. By combining it with a hand-held computer device we believe we have made state of the art telematics available to a far wider user base.”
